Field Notes: Desert Weekend
Rituals, Essentials + a few Favorite Things
I spent last week in the desert in both Nevada and Arizona. I drove from Las Vegas to Sedona along the old Route 66. It was a desert dream come true. Hot, very dry weather plus all the stars at night. I swooned over all the cactus varieties, vortex energy sites and red rocks plus I learned about something called a death bloom seen with agave plants, after they take between 20-30 years to fully mature. One stunning bloom at the very end of their life cycle. It feels like less of an ending and more of a transformation. They look almost mythic. Some of the blooms reach up to forty feet tall. There was something that felt so sacred about it all. Grief noticed. I'll be pondering this one for a while.
