Field Notes: Spring Break
Rituals, Essentials + a few Favorite Things
That feeling of a warm breeze on your cheeks and beams of sunshine on your back. How quick we are to not give these precious riches the awe they deserve.
Spring break always brings a certain seasonal rhythm that I look forward to. I love that it aligns with the first outdoor grilled dinners of the year, the farmers market strawberries getting good again, often my first sunburn after a bundled up winter, and the release of new rosé vintages. More than anything else, it all feels like ritual. And it’s these ordinary rituals that make us feel connected to ourselves, our loved ones and gently mark the passing of time.
With the sun, comes the need for wearing more hats. Boo was a collector of things. Straw hats being one of them — she had more than she could count. She gifted me my best hats. The one in this edit is hers.
This is my first Field Notes dispatch and what you can expect here is cookbooks I’m currently cooking from (I keep a pile on my nightstand), condiment obsessions, wellness supplements, beauty favs, what I’m wearing and lusting for, plus, of course, nail polish colors :)
Here’s what I’m into right now.
Cookbook: Prune by Gabrielle Hamilton [the burger on pg 281 / the cold chicken salad with blue cheese pg 324 / all the bar snacks / brown butter vin pg 459]
Book: A World Appears by Michael Pollan [a journey into consciousness, available on audible too]
Condiment: Texas Pete Pepper Sauce [whole, green tabasco peppers are soaked in salt and vinegar creating this magical tangy hot vinegar that you shake on everything - I discovered this in Florida a few weeks ago and lost my mind over it.]
Supplement: SOL by Golden Rule [micro-dose gummies] I will be doing a deeper dive on this with you all very soon.
Cropped Clam Tee from Lisa Says Gah
Velvet / Linen Mary Janes by Flabelus [I have 5 pairs!]
Gel Nail Polish: DND Barefoot Sea #2534 [perfect pastel seafoam]
Hat: Paloma Sun Hat by Lack of Color [love the chin strap] {from Boo's collection}
Sheer Tulle “Dolly” Bra by Dora Larsen [the BEST feel and color combos]
Honey infused Lip Oil by Gisou [I love the classic Honey Gold]
Barcelona Slide Jelly by Vince [in Amethyst] or this Glimmr Jelly [in pink]
Tres Pearl Earring by Maya Brenner [I love buying and wearing single earrings and then mixing and matching on both ears - this is a favorite in my rotation]
Cat Eye “Suzy” Sunnies by Machete [I have these in 2 colors!]
Striped Poplin Pants by Simon Miller [the Loch button-up shirts are rad too]
Ethel Ring by Sarah Hendler [I wear my turquoise one religiously]
Air Angel Peptide Plumping Gel Cream by Dieux [Cannot love this more. Wonderful for AM and PM use]
Petit Summer Simple Tote by Claire V [in black/cream crochet checker]

Now you. Drop your current favorites in the comments — I want to know what you're into this spring. And hold this close: if someone you love left you something good — a hat, a recipe, a scent, a habit — use it. Wear it. Carry it with you.

My grandmas necklaces. Wear them every single day and won’t stop until it’s time for my girls to have them 💕
It's still rainy up in OR, so the bootcut jeans Boo gifted me are doing me lots of good still <3 They are genuinely my comfiest pair of jeans. Also, I'm not sure if Burgerville exists in California, but their key lime shake is perfection.
